Bio

Mark Fabio was born and raised in Bloomfield, NJ and spent most of his life teaching music in New Jersey’s public schools. Mark received his bachelor's degree in Music Education from Rowan (Glassboro) University and has also earned a master's degree in Music Theory/Composition from Montclair State University in 2003 and a master's degree in Digital Music Production/Pedagogy from Duquesne University in 2013. Fabio was a member of Phi Kappa Lambda Honor Society at Rowan and shared the Composer of the Year award at Montclair in 2003.

 

Mark continues to compose big band, concert band, orchestral, jazz, and rock music and had his first composition published in 2008. That piece, Magic Carpet for concert band, was performed at The Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago in 2009 by the prestigious Hillcrest Wind Ensemble from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He also arranges music for jazz bands, concert bands, orchestras, marching bands and drum and bugle corps in the NY, NJ, PA area.

 

Fabio performs frequently in the tri-state area on trumpet, bass, flute, soprano saxophone, and percussion. Fabio has performed with the Hollybush Opera, The Philly Pops, and jazz artists such as Clark Terry, Al Grey, Jimmy Heath, Joe Temperly and Jim Pugh. He has performed with many rock and roll and R&B legends including Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Frankie Valli, Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Shirelles, Bowser, Leslie Gore, Bobby Freeman, Lou Christie, Laverne Baker, The Tokens, Frankie Lymon’s Teenagers, Bernard Purdie, Davey Jones, Harold Melvin's Blue Notes, and Connie Francis. In addition, he has also performed with E Street Band members Garry Tallent, Vinnie "Mad Dog" Lopez, and Ed Manion and countless latin bands including the Louie Ramirez Orchestra. Fabio also played trumpet on the original Fox animated series, The Tick. This studio gig actually led to Fabio playing and acting in a film with Scream star David Arquette. It was Fabio and Arquette’s first career film and was Fabio’s last! Arquette moved on to movie stardom and the film never made it past post-production! 

     

Fabio is now putting his efforts into recording the many genres of music he has been composing and arranging over the years. He already has released five albums that you can find on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Amazon, etc...  These include an avant garde/experimental/film music oriented album called Verstarkte, an Indian/jazz flavored album called Punjab Blues, a children's album called Why was 6 Afraid of 7, and a Christmas album called An Electro-Acoustic Christmas and a release of his last performance group entitled Frequency Interruptors and is a recording of one of the bands Fabio performed with while in NJ. His latest composition, THE ELEMENTS: A Concerto for Two Native American Flutes and Orchestra. These recordings have been released on Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music and most other popular streaming platforms.

 

Fabio retired from a 32 year career teaching music in New Jersey's public schools and settled in Santa Fe, NM in 2020, moved to Hallandale Beach Florida and is currently residing in Randolph NJ!. He has been spending most of his time working on his music and photography, hiking and enjoying the amazing culture and nature of New Mexico, Florida and New Jersey!
