VERSTARKTE
This is an electro-acoustic album intended for film and tv and represents a variety of moods and textures. I wrote and recorded all the tunes on this album and it features me on synthesizers, trumpet, soprano sax, flute, bass and percussion. It also features John Gillick on drums (Triskaidekeaphobia), and Zack Leffand on guitar (Gigantor). I hope you enjoy it!
THE ELEMENTS:
A Concerto for Two Native American Flutes and Orchestra
The inspiration for this composition came to me in 2 ways. A friend in Santa Fe approached me and thought it would be cool for me to compose music to a series of watercolors she painted depicting her impressions of the Native American Medicine Wheel (Navajo), Water, Earth, Air and Fire. Her paintings highlight the video! She is also a Shaman and we met almost every Wednesday afternoon for a year so she could teach me about each of the Elements! So the inspiration for The Elements came from her artwork, and my learnings of the Medicine Wheel!!
PUNJAB BLUES
Punjab Blues is an album I recorded in my basement studio in South Plainfield NJ. I play trumpet, soprano sax, flute, oboe, bass, and some percussion and I programmed all Indian string and percussion sounds. I wrote Punjab Blues and Phaal Curry Swing and I arranged Djingo which was written by Babatunde Olatanji and was made famous by Carlos Santana on his first album!
WHY WAS 6 AFRAID OF 7?
(Folk Songs for Kids)
Why Was 6 Afraid of 7? is a children's album I recorded several years ago. I sing all lead and background vocals and also play all guitar, bass, percussion, trumpet, trombone, and flute tracks. The album is comprised mostly of old timey children's folk songs and contains two original songs: The title song written by me and I Am The Turtle by my old friend Brian McGowan. It also contains Miriam Makeba's hit cover Pata Pata, and Catfish John which was written by Bob McDill and Allen Reynolds and often covered by Jerry Garcia and many others.
FREQUENCY INTERRUPTORS
Frequency Interruptors are a psychedelic jazz rock fusion band from NJ and was one of the last bands I played with before I left NJ in my RV in 2020. The band was 100% improvisational and this album, although recorded in my studio, was recorded purely live. Frequency Interruptors feature Zack Leffand on guitar, Mason Rogers on bass, Ben Cureton on drums, and I play trumpet and soprano sax.
AN ELECTRO-ACOUSTIC CHRISTMAS
This album features arrangements of some of my favorite Christmas tunes. I am especially proud of Ukrainian Bells which is a mash-up of Carol Of The Bells and Led Zeppelin's Dazed And Confused. I play trumpet, flute, synthesizers and bass on this album and also includes Zack Leffand on guitar (Ukrainian Bells and Ancient Carol) and Danny Cotton on drums.
